Last night when I signed off my verizon.net account, I was 79% full with thousands of emails in my inbox. This morning I was 53% full with only 20 emails in my inbox. Verizon says that they have no idea what happened or how to find them. Has this happened to anyone else?

Unfortunately the same thing happened to me. It's their new software for their email server. See the thread a few below this one called email deletion for details. Unfortunately they have no clue what to do. They did not save any emails before rolling out their new software. You are dead in the water with no recourse. Verizon could care less. I loved the response to your query. Talk about lame. I have complained all the way up to the CEO of Verizon with the predictable response (none). Verizon could care less about you or any of its other customers. In my case they deleted a year worth of emails and their response was "we're sorry but we can't do anything about it". I'm leaving verizon. I have been a customer for over 25 years but this company has changed from a service oriented company to one that could care less about service. They got too big.
Imagine rolling out new software with absolutely no backup plan. Well, that's what I am doing anyway. You should, too.
