New Sub Account - Can't access email

So I successfully added a sub account and created a new username and that username.verizon.net for an email address but I can't access that email address using either AOL mail or Yahoo mail. Also, when I try send a test email to the new address it comes back with an undeliverable error.  How do I access a newly created sub account email?
