Outlook 2013 Receiving error

I finally realized that Verizon supports Outlook 2013, so everything set up ok and I can send email from Outlook 2013, but am getting the "Receiving reported error (0x800CC0F)".  How do I fix this problem?

Running Outlook 2013 on Windows 8.1
Have outlook setup with 5 profiles. All 5 profiles work correctly when using the Outlook Test account settings.
However get error when attempting to send e-mails from one account only
Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800ccc0f): 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact the server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
I have spent a considerable amount of time attempting to trouble shooting this fault with no success:
Reinstalled Office.
Started Oulook in safe mode
used ScanPST to repair .pst files - this seems to show errors the whole time. If I use it to repair the files, then run it again it still shows errors.
Hooked up my laptop to router using Ethernet rather than wireless
Disabled antivirus (AVG).
Increased server timeout from 1 to 2 minutes
Not sure, but seems that mails without attachment go eventually, but ones with never do.
I have seen some suggestions to create a fresh profile - problem is I need my e-mails saved in my existing profile.
Really stuck here and it is seriously affecting by ability to work
