Previously unlinked verizon yahoo email account hacked

My @verizon.net e-mail has been hacked and they are sending out spam. This account hasn't been used in a couple of years. It happened previously and I was told by customer service that the verizon yahoos email account was deactivated.

I want to change the password for my e-mail but it keeps taking me into myverizon where I can change my password but it only changes it for myverizon and not for loggging into my verizon yahoo e-mail. If i try and change it on verizon yahoo e-mail it just sends me to change my myverizon.

I have to log into myverizon with the new password but it allows me to log into verizon yahoo mail with the old one.

Bottom line, I want to get rid of the verizon yahoo email account.

How can I change my verizon yahoo password?

If you are using the same username for email and myverizon then the pssword is the same. It can take a little time for it to update on the yahoo side after a change. If it has not changed in an hour, you may want to call tech support.  If this is the main username, then there is no way to deactivate the acount. If the account is unlinked then it should not work for yahoo email. It should go to the verizon webmail.

I have spent countless hours on the phone with tech support over the last 2 years.  Yes, 2 years!!  This isn't something that was just recently unlinked or asked to be unlinked.  I requested back in 2012.  My issue is that I can still access my email on myverizon with my new password and on the verizon yahoo portal with the old password??  Whenever I try to change the password on the verizon yahoo side it kicks me into myverizon to change that password.  That is not what I want and that is what tech support cannot figure out how to do.  I am being told that the account is unlinked but in actuallity it is not.  Just frustrated at the whole situation.  I appreciate your respone though.  Thanks
