I tried to follow the instructions to change the setting on my iphone 4s. When I change the settings as instructed I get a message saying the setting doesn't support APOP. Now what?
I was able to change the setting on two iPhones and the MAC but not the iPad??????
Got the same message re: APOP
What is going on with dear ol' Verizon????
APOP is not supported. Not sure for your device where you tell it. Usually its something like clear or normal password.
What do you mean by "like clear or normal password."?

The password must be passed just as ordinary text. For at least some of these email clients that is identified as "clear text", and for some others as "normal password.
A common setting often set automatically by Wizards setting up email accounts but that will not work is "authenticate password", "apop" "encyrypted password, or "secure pasword". Some others that will not work "Kerberos","GSSAPI","NTLM", "TLS certificate".
