Sending scanned doc via email

Scanned article. Tried to send via email. "cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons: Scanner is turned off (no) Scanner is disconnected (also no). It is disconnected from LAN, if using on LAN. (?) Code 5,145,55.

What is the make and model of your scanner?  How is the device connected to your pc?

Why not just scan the document to a file on the computer, then attach the file to an email and send it that way? Simple, easy, and many (most?) scanners will scan directly to a PDF which makes viewing documents on the receiving end easy to read.
