Signing in now takes me to verizonwireless.com

Why when I sign in now on my primary fios account, it goes to a verizonwireless.com page during the login process?  It also asked me to add additional info for the login.  I also have a secondary email address on the account that I use and it signs in the old way.  Why are you taking me to VZW?  If I'm logging into VZW now, can I combine my FiOS account and my VZW account into one Verizon account now?
