No issue with KINDLE FIRE HD device since MAR'13. My problem is SPAM overwhelming my 3 email accounts on VERIZON.net! Spam detection not working. Norton 360 not catching it on laptop. Only Norton products available for KINDLE is a malware scan...always clean.  Every computer specialist that has looked at laptop points to Verizon FIOS network inconsistent network traffic during downloads.

Finally had to replace the router to get WEP2, had to drive 2 towns over during commuter traffic but bit the bullet and did it. Spent 54 hrs. combined between Verizon, Microsoft, Toshiba and Norton to resolve current issues.

Had to run Cmd 'msconfig' to Start All Services, reboot, reconnect.   WORKED.

It took someone with A+ certification and 6 weeks experience to come to my house and fix the problem. Tech support from all major media outlets had no resolution. 7 neighbors on my street are all thankful for me solving their issue.

WHY did this happen? We all have antivirus software, Verizon routers, MS pcs!!!

go ahead and comment- I've been unconnected since May 16th and cranky....

now I see an email about changing the router to WPA? Why didn't you get in touch with customers using WEP already?

You are talking to PEERS here.

Totally unclear what you are saying or asking.  Verizon has a spam filter, but it is often criticized for missing SPAM and marking some valid mail as spam.  Verizon cannot do anything about the quality of Norton's (or other company) antispam filters.

On wireless security you should be using WPA2 if at all possible.  WPA if it isn't.  Avoid WEP unless neither WPA2 and WPA doesn't work.  They have been sending messages about this and listing on their websites for years.  The only bad thing is that their router before the version F router defaulted to WEP.  Version F, G and I routers defaulted to WPA2

you don't need norton 360 to control spam if you get a good third party email client like windows mail, windows live mail you can also make a account with gmail. and forward your verizon mail to gmail lotsa options out there.
