Switch from FIOS to DSL and keeping email addresses intact how?

We moved from a building with FIOS to a building with DSL and have set up the DSL.  I have not cancelled the FIOS accounts because I am trying to keep the same email addresses but am not sure how to do this.  When I activated the DSL account they asked me to create an email address and would not accept my current verizon email address registered on my FIOS account.

How do I set up the same email addresses when I switch from verizon FIOS to verizon DSL?

YOu need to make it clear to them that this is what you want.  I know I had some trouble doing so but finally got it done when I switched several years back

Absolutely make sure you have all your email, as they may lose it on their servers.  Since I don't leave my mail on their servers that was not a big problem for me.
