Switching service providers - can I keep my email?

I am considering switching internet/cable providers. Now that my email account has been moved over to AOL, will I be able to keep my @verizon.net email account? I transitioned my email account over already.

Since it’s over on Yahoo or AOL it more than likely will be on their server for continuous use.
