Switching to AOL email - main account and subaccounts

We have a main Verizon email account and three subaccounts. Do we transfer the main account to AOL first, then the subaccounts? or does it matter?

I started to transfer one of the subaccounts first, to try it out, but the first question that came up was, what do we want to use as the main account, and I wasn't sure how to proceed. 

After we've switched to AOL email, can we access each email account directly, or do we go through the main account first?
