I copied my Outlook 2007 pst file to my new Win 8.1 machine. I installed Outlook 2007 and entered address and password, Even made sure port numbers were 995 and 465. However, Outlook times out trying to get to Verizon. I would have thought that pst file would have everything Outlook and Verizon needed.
I tried it with a new pst file and that made no difference.
Any suggestions on what might not have transferred properly, besides the port numbers?
Thank you in advance for help!

Is this the procdedure you used to setup 2007? http://www.verizon.com/Support/Residential/internet/highspeed/email/setup+and+use/questionsone/12891...#
Also have you applied all updates provided by MicroSoft to 2007?
After reading this you may have to do some experimenting: http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Verizon-net-Email/Cannot-get-Outlook-to-work-with-new-outgoing-server-n...

Thanks for your reply. I went through setup again and found one box unchecked which I thought it had been. I am finally up and running. Thanks for the additional URL for checking for problems. I will file that away for future use and hope that I don't need it. I probably will move to Outlook 2010 before long. I hope that goes more smoothly.
Thanks again for your suggestions!

FYI the Outlook email settings (screens) are the same in Outlook 2010 as they are in Outlook 2007, so simply upgrading Outlook should be easy for you -- it was for me.
