disconnect verizon.net email from yahoo

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how I can disconnect my verizon.net email address from Yahoo mail?

The reason I want to do this is I am about to cancel the DSL account that my verizon.net email address is associated with.  Before I do this, I want to use the utility at keepmyemail.com so I can keep my verizon.net email address even after I cancel my DSL account. 

The utility at keepmyemail.com tells me that in order to use this utility, I first have to disconnect my verizon.net email from yahoo mail, but it doesn't give any instructions as to how to do this.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
