droid x ssl

I have received 3 emails from Verizon, eash instructing me to change email settings.  This cannot be done on a Droid X as there is no way of enabling SSL.  I have searched net and found many complaining of same experience.  If droid x is updated to settings, emails cannot be set.  Any suggestions?

The setting is not for the phone, it  is part of the email client. What app are you using for your email? If you cant find it in the setting for the email app, try another app.
