email blocked from sending?

I am currently overseas, however I still use my Verizon email.  We have had a new internet company here at work recently and now my email will not send.  I am using a MacPro laptop and using the built in Apple Mail program.  I have tried changing the ports that the email uses with no luck (port 25, 465, 587).  The local internet company tells me it is not them and that Verizon is blocking outgoing email from my IP address.  {edited for privacy}

What is the deal and how can I go about being able to send email again, using the online Verizon email web page is slower than slow and a royal pain.

Thanks!

more than likely it is the new ISP's issue

what is the VERBATIM error message that you get?

Agree with Bob_Robertson ... what is the exact error message you are receiving.

You could be dealing with a couple of possible issues ... one, by default the Apple iMail client will not do authenticated SMTP.  You need to change a setting on the account setup to tell the client to login into the server before sending.   Second, since you mention a company network, are you certain they are allowing port 587 out of the firewall (do they have a firewall?).

Anyway ... give us some more detail and let's see if we can't figure out what exact set of problems we're dealing with.

I am having the same problem as the OP.

I recently bought a new laptop and installed office 2007.  I opened outlook and used all the same settings that worked perfectly on my desktop.  I can received email but not send.  I've spent some time searching online for solutions and like the OP changed all the settings I could find in those suggestions (from 25 to 587, requiring authentication) but I still can't send.

I haven't changed anything other than getting the new laptop.  The software is the same, the internet provider is the same...  any suggestions?

All, I am having the same issue: can receive, but not send now that I'm overseas. I am accessing internet through IO global. The exact error message Microsoft Outlook 2007 is giving me is " Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or ISP. The server responded: 571 Outbound email delivery from [IP address inserted here] is curr" and then the message is cut off. I tried changing the port to 587 and that did not cT

I am deployed to Afghanistan.  I recently switched my home ISP to Verizon and changed my email to a verizon.net account.   In MS Outlook, I am able to recieve email but cannot send.  here I have IO-Global as my ISP.  My understanding is i need the IO-Global outgoing server address and Port #.  The IO-Global service desk here could not help me.  Has anyone cracked this problem?
