listing emails by date

I am trying to list emails received  by date so I can delete old emails. Yesterday I could do it by clicking on "date," which would provide me pages from some time ago. Today that action will not work at all. How can I show emails from the past?

Just tried both descending and ascending listings.

They both worked for me.

Thanks for responding, Tom. Yep. They worked for me yesterday; not today. The cursor looks very much like that symbol Prince used to use; no arrow, no hand. When I click on "date," I get a vertical line across the screen. I can do nothing more than move the line from side to side. I tried left click and right clck, restart, shut down and back up, anti-virus scan - makes no difference. Apparently no one has ever had this happen before.
