My sub account emails stop working after a few hours. I get the message surname or password incorrect. I go into the Verizon email setup utility and "change" the password to the same one and then when I try my email again it works again for a for a few hours before Getting the same error again. This is on an iPad. The Verizon agent on chat suggested I use web mail instead as a solution. Any help appreciated.

Maybe try setting it to a different password? If it's been compromised, setting it back to the same password doesn't solve the problem.
