retrieving old email

A high school friend was wondering why I never responded to his emails. I switched from Comcast to Verizon  2 years ago and he was still sending email to my Comcast account. Is there any way to retrieve these old messages from the  Comcast account? My friend sent me a screen shot and I saw he has indeed been sending email to my Comcast account all along. None of these messages were returned to him as undeliverable. My last email from him was dated February 2011.

You need to contact Comcast customer service. The only way you will get those messages is if Comcast has them archived and is willing to retrieve and forward them to you.

Also, your current problem is why I do not use ISP email services for anything I care about.  A third party email provider will go with you when you change ISPs.  Which means the end of sending out change of address notices, and wondering if you missed someone.  Plus, in my experience,  the quality of service from third party providers is better.

Agree completely with Walt's suggestion, and Google is a good choice (although privacy issues may concern some users).  Many experienced users prefer to completely avoid the webmail services of their ISPs for reasons like yours.

Regarding Comcast, I closed my account there well over 18 months ago, but I just took another look and I am still able to sign in to my old Comcast services, including my old email accounts.  Perhaps you will get lucky and be able to fetch your old mail or even set up mail forwarding to your new address.
