I do some texting so I'd like to get a cell with a full keyboard. A data package is no longer required. I'm years past my contract so that's not a problem. So all the planets are aligned to change phones.
I visited the Verizon store recently. They recommended the Samsung Intensity or the LG Cosmos 2. I went home & did a search of reviews on these two phones only to discover that the cell phone world considers both to be mediocre at best.
A review of problems encountered here on other threads seems to confirm this.
Can anyone vouch for these or suggest another alternative?
If you aren't adverse to ebay, you can pick up some great older phones there through reputable sellers for cheap.I'm willing to bet you can get another 385
There are several threads on this forum with reviews/comparisons of basic phones if you want to do a search; there's been several in the past few months.
I also would suggest checking out ebay for a discontinued but good texting phone ... some that come to mind are the LG env3 and the Octane. Just ensure that it's Verizon branded with a clean ESN.
Check out the LG Env Touch.

If you are looking for a NEW basic phone there really aren't any. The newest basic phone Verizon sells came out in Nov 2011. While I could be wrong I have not heard of any newer models of basic phones coming to Verizon. Any that did would probably get mediocre reviews as well. If all you need is text those phone may be fine. Sometimes bad reviews have to do with other tings like the camera or other features you may not be interested in.
I have the Samsung Brightside and its a pretty good phone! I have had it for a year now and have not had a single problem with it. Before this phone, I had the Env 3, which was a great phone as well!
