How to block text messages from Twitter?

After 30 minutes on hold I am starting to give up.  perhaps because my billing cycle is ending soon and I only used 2/3 of my minutes???

Ok here's my real question.  I have been getting random messages from Twitter.  I have a Twitter account that I do next to nothing on, and I never gave them my phone number.  I want to block any and all messages from Twitter.  Any quick way to do this?

The agent said she couldn't do it, which I do not believe because if the messages are coming through Verizon's systems then Verizon has to know who they are coming from, and can block them.  So I am still waiting to be transferred to technical support after 40 minutes.

Lastly, I found the block internet spam section of my account online, and added www.twitter.com to the block list.  Will this be enough?

Out of the tens of thousands of registered users 26 views isn't even a drop in the bucket. Blocking text messages from the web sounds like a good start to me. You should also check your settings on Twitter itself.

Thank you Ann.  I checked on Twitter and I have no link to my phone whatsoever.  I should probably cancel Twitter anyway.  I did block them online through my Verizon so I hope that works.  Will wait and see.

Are you sure these are really from twitter or maybe they are just some kind of spam not from twitter at all it sounds like since you never registered your phone number on twitter. I follow a lot of people on twitter. Unless you select to follow that person and enabled mobile notifications for them you would not get their tweets at all in you text messages especially since you never registered your phone number so it sounds like spam not from twitter at all. Did you try going on twitter.com and looking for that person to see if they are actually tweeting that and to see if you are actually following them. If it shows you are following them and have enabled mobile notifications then select to stop the mobile notifications and unfollow them.

To unfollow someone using SMS text message you would text UNFOLLOW username to your carrier's short code but if these are spam messages and you never registered your phone number with twitter don't think that is going to help you. Mary

I can help you stop those unwanted messages, ew0054. It sounds like you have a twitter app downloaded and the mobile notifications are turned on. I would suggest opening your twitter application and going to 'Settings' and turning off mobile notifications. Let me know if this helps. Have a great day.
