How to delete email from older samsung flip phone

I have a Samsung Gusto 2, and originally subscribed to the email feature. I canceled the email feature some time ago but have the "open email" icon displayed on my screen. I do not want to subscribe to the email feature just, simply want to remove the icon on the screen. I tried to read and/or delte whatever email is saved thrugh Verison's website but could not locate the feature. Thanks in advance.
