Micro SD card not transferring information to Lg Cosmos 3

I recently got a replacement for my lg cosmos 3. I transferred all of my contacts, photos, and ringtones onto a micro sd card. I put the micro sd card into my replacement phone and received the error message "no content available." There should be the information on the card. What am I doing wrong?

This card, was it formatted prior to use? How did you do the transfer? I've not known of a way to transfer contacts via that message but by using back up assistant instead.
