Mobile email app expired

Bought a Samsung Intensity 3 11/25 with unlimited text and email and Dec 1 when I went into mobile email on the menu it says the app has expired and I have to pay to continue using it. I know this has been a problem other people have had but can't find any resolution. I've emailed Verizon for answers and I'm waiting for my husband to come home so I can use his phone to call Verizon back and see if they can supposedly walk me through trying to fix the issue although I'm not holding out much hope. I know I'm "only" a no-contract customer who hardly uses any text or email, which is why I switched to this phone, but it is advertised as unlimited email and text for the price
