Hello, I need to replace my current basic phone and do not qualify for an upgrade yet.
I need to find a new or used phone that does not require data. Can someone please give me some models that will work that are newer?
The VZW prepaid models have to be used 6 months on prepaid before you can use them on a contract and I have a contract.
Also,
How can I be sure that a used phone I buy on ebay is not simply a prepaid phone that hasnt been used for the 6 month minimum?
I used to have the Samsung Intensity phone, it is a slide phone, great for texting. I am including a link to eBay and some of the auctions for new Intensity and Intensity 2 phones.
I can help you out hawkpacific!
View and compare our newest basic phones here http://vz.to/10spDXk Since you are not eligible to upgrade you can select month to month pricing to purchase at full retail. Is something wrong with your current phone? If so, I would love to help! Please share your device model and what you are experiencing so I may further assist. Thank you.

Usually on eBay, the listing will indicate if it's prepaid.
I agree with Droid Usrr that the Intensity 2 is worth checking into, because it has a great rubberized keyboard and you can get one new for less than $100.
Depending on what you're willing to spend, I also noticed that the Wal-Mart in my area is selling the brand new Intensity III off contract for $175. That way, you'd still have the year warranty on it, and it's a solid phone.
There usually are quite a few inexpensive feature phones on Craigslist, too, if you're not opposed to meeting with strangers. It's best to meet at a Verizon store and activate it before handing over your money.
If buying off ebay, don't forget to ensure that the phone is Verizon branded with a clean ESN. You can check the ESN here:
