New to the LG Extravert
crystals
Newbie

I just ordered the LG Extravert today...

I'm going from a smart phone to a basic phone.  I'm sick of paying a huge phone bill every month and to be honest I don't really need all of that stuff.  Something that just dials and texts is fine for me.

I chose unlimited text and no data plan.  I do like to use google talk to chat with some family members out of the area.  My question is if I download google talk and use it will it count as data being used?

Also, can someone please explain to me what this month to month stuff is?  I'm used to being on a 2 year contract...

Good morning crystals,

It very admirable to hear that you were able to make a conscious decision on what device to carry based on need. I have been a smartphone owner for a very long time and I'm certain that I don't use my device to it's fullest capabilities. The LG Extravert is a wonderful device that incorporates the basic phone and smartphone functionality into one device. I like to refer to it as an entry level smartphone. Google Talk does uses data to connect voice calls and text messages. If you have a data plan then the usage for Google Talk will be covered. As far as your voice and text allowance, Google Talk does not use your allotment. I just wanted to clarify this issue so people won't think that they are being double billed, which is not the case.

If you are interested in prepay or month-to-month service then the link that MojaveMoon provided is a great starting point for researching which option is best for you. The benefits or prepay is that billing only occurs when service is used. On the other hand, month-to-month service is much like the contractual service that you are used to but you have a wider selection of devices to purchase. I am very interested in what avenue that you choose for your service and if you could be so kind as to provide a status update then that would be great!

Thank you...
