Samsung Intensity II will not dial out with hands free plugged in

Strange issue, Samsung Intensity II will not dial out with the hands free plugged in.

I've toggled the Auto Answer on/off to troubleshoot and it still does not dial out.

The handsfree does work if you plug it in the phone after a call is placed but when you attempt to dial a number with the handsfree plugged in the outbound number will show up on the phone for a second then drop.

Any advice is appreciated.
