Samsung Intensity III- keypad frozen (but not locked)

The phone is not in auto lock mode.  None of the keys on the keypad work and the screen is black.  When I slide out the soft keypad, then the phone lights up. None of those keys work either. I can't shut the phone off.  I can only make calls when using blue tooth in my car.  The calls disconnect shortly thereafter or the sound becomes scratchy and I can't hear anyone. Please advise.

If your phone is frozen have you taken the battery out and tried to reboot?
