Samsung Intensity III

i recently switched from a Samsung Brightside to a Samsung Intensity III due to my Brightside getting damaged...my issue is my phone does not always alert me to incoming or missed calls

another and bigger issue is voicemail...a lot of friends have asked me why i never respond their messages...i got curious and called in voicemail...i had 8 new messages and the phone did not alert to any of them

can someone please help ASAP
