Why does the light for the outer screen on my DuraXV stay on?

DuraXV        just purchased      outer screen light stays on   is it a menu choice or a broken phone

WilliamArledge,

Having a phone that constantly stays on is not good for the battery. Let's make sure the settings are correct.

From the Home screen, press > Settings & Tools > Display Settings > Backlight.
•Select Display or Keypad and press for the following options:
◦Display to set the backlight for the display.
◾Duration: Select the backlight timeout option and choose the desired duration (7 seconds, 15 seconds, 30 seconds, or Always On).
