"Message expired or not available" when sending or receiving picture messages

Why does it say "Message expired or not available" when sending or receiving picture messages.  I only began having this problem within the last 4-5 days.  I have an LG Cosmos.

Let's get those pictures flying again, mitchell1335! Have you restarted the device since this began? If you do use email or web on the phone are these services working?

I started being able to get pic messages again today. Not sure what happened, but it started working again.  Anything specific I should do in the future if this happens again?  I don't use the device for email or web.
