why am I getting weather alerts on my phone???? I never have before and how to stop them

I did not download a app my phone is made not to do that . its a flip phone.. is there anyway to get eid of it

I wonder if the basic phone is capable of getting the emergency alerts sent out by government agencies for severe weather, amber alerts and presidential alerts.
