Phantom Text

I have a phantom unread text that I can neither read nor delete. I have deleted all of my messages, but am still showing that I have one new message. When I view the "inbox" folder, it shows one message, but won't show when I enter the actual inbox. I can't figure out where to go in settings to get through a back door and delete the message. Please help.

Try removing your battery while the phone is on. After a minute or two, put the battery back in and restart your phone. That should clear the memory and hopefully the message will go away.

If not, post back and we can troubleshoot further. What kind of phone do you have? If it's a blackberry or smartphone, it may be a message received on a service other than simple text messaging....

This worked for me. Change your SMS settings. Go to Settings>more >default SMS and then switch to another messaging app(hangouts worked for me). Then if you want, change it back after your message comes through.
