Probably bad battery. Or it could just be getting old. time to upgrade anyway.
Arlcop44, I've been there myself with an old smartphone and can imagine that this is the last thing you want taking place on your phone. Let's work towards a resolution here so you have a working phone again. When your phone powers off, does it only happen in specific situations? (Phone call, texting, etc.) Is there currently any specific damage to the phone or is the battery swollen at all?
