LG Revere 3 Immediately Disconnecting after Being Plugged in to Computer

I'm having an infuriating problem with my new LG Revere 3. When I plug it into my computer, it recognizes it, and begins to run the software update assistant, but then almost immediately disconnects. I've used multiple cords, and I know it's not my USB ports, because my USB mouse works just fine. Please help.
