Droid X email disappeared

I recently have set everything to go to a gmail account and when I hit archive from the phone it is no longer in my gmail.  It's like the email was deleted. 

 

Can anyone help direct me where this would have gone?

Is there a way to delete email from the phone but keep it on the gmail server?

 

Any help is appreciated.

It's still there, it just doesn't show up in your inbox. When you navigate to GMail, click on the 'More' listing in your control pane (should be after Inbox, Sent Mail, etc). There will be a listing for 'All Mail'. The archived items will be there.
