Zagg glass protector dulls the touch sensitivity on the screen so doesn't recognize keystrokes. I like the phone but can't live without a screen protector. Anyone have a solution without going to a bulky case or returning the phone?
Yes I had the same problem with safe screen. I took it off and returned it to Verizon who gave me a refund. I got the Samsung S view case for the phone which I am very happy with. When closed it protects the screen when in your pocket or anywhere else you put it down. Try it out.
Had the same experience. The Verizon shop had no solution and we had to return the phone and pay a $35 restocking fee. Feels cheated.
I had the Verizon tempered glass and it was horrible. It was painful using my phone. I returned it and got the Zagg tempered glass, it got better. Better is not enough the left side seemed to have sensitivity issues. I also returned it (today). Now I am using no screen protector until there is a better one out there.
Hello PAULG79,
We definitely want you to be fully enjoying your new device. Why did you return the phone to the store?

I just had my wife get the Samsung Galaxy S8 and she (and by she I mean me since I have been dealing with the screen protector issue) has been having screen protector issues. First we bought the ZAGG Invisible Shield HD Glass screen protector. She had a nasty air bubble in the left half of the screen. The VZW employee said to give it 48 hours. First of all I have learned that the line, "give it BLANK hours" to have the air bubble work themselves out is the biggest lie I have ever been told. If the air bubbles are not out when you leave the store, the are never coming out (LOL!). So never let them tell you that.
I handled my return through ZAGG since I have the S7 (I know, no curve so it is an "easier" application. Though admittedly I hate putting screen protectors on because I would rather have the VZW employee liable if they[Removed] it up and can go in the back and get another one and not me fork over the $ for another one.). I like ZAGG and have never had any issues. However, this is my 3rd screen protector through ZAGG and none have worked. ZAGG mailed me the Sapphire version for the S8 which supposedly is supposed to be the "toughest" version. The problem with the Sapphire is that it does not wrap around the entire edge. I am not quite sure why they designed it that way, but that was a major design flaw. If it was on purpose, then then they need to explain why when comparison shopping. At any rate, the HD glass version only has adhesive on the edges and the Sapphire has adhesive on the entire shield. For the life of me, VZW and when I applied it myself just now could not get all of the air bubbles out to save our lives! I have these tiny micro bubble stuck on the edges. I followed all the videos that ZAGG has on their website (watched over and over prior to installing the shield) and read the instructions several times over. I am an Aerospace Engineer and feel like after doing this I need to be in a clean room so that I have absolutely no hair, or debris around because even with the ZAGG provided "dust sticker" or what you would see a VZW employee use as magic tape, there is still dust that gets under the shield.I say all this to basically sympathize with you CYNOVE32. I know this is no battery explosion like the Note 7 had, but just think about all of the money either VZW or the screen protection companies have made over the last several weeks. You have those that refund and no additional amount of money changes hands, but then you have the consumers that say, "[Removed] it" and buy an new one.ZAGG has been great in terms of sending me new screen protectors. I am going to try and go back to the glass, but we shall see. My wife is really mad that I suggested her to go from the S6 to the S8.
VZW on the other hand has not been very helpful with my dissatisfaction. I mean, if we are either dropping $700+ on the spot for a new phone, or incrementally for the purchase plan, money for new cords because Samsung didn't bother to mention that the S8 uses USB-C (might have gotten the acronym incorrect but you know what I am talking about) and new phone case, they should be a lot more helpful.
My apologies for the rant! This screen protector issue is absolutely ridiculous! VZW employee who will reply to this, what are you recommending we do for the best screen protector for the S8?
Regards,
Rolfster8

i STRONGLY SUGGEST THE ZAGG SAPPHIRE.
DO NOT MIX THIS UP WITH THE CURVE GLASS. The Sapphire just came out last week. I have 0 issues with it. I work construction and drop my phone alot so I use it with the Oterbox defender. While Verizon DOES NOT sell the SAPPHIRE yet it can be ordered via ZAGG. Unlike the previous one and the one Verizon has (yes I tried all them) this one sticks on the entire glass. the key sensitivity is spot on also. Just take your time putting it on since the sticky stuff covers the entire screen. AGAIN THIS IS THE ZAGG SAPPHIRE NOT!!! THE ZAGG CURVE GLASS.
I'm using armour suit and so far so good.
I have very same problem.
I preordered a new Samsung S8 at Best Buy, picked it up April 24. Since it was brand new, Best Buy did not have any screen protectors in stock, and not a great selection of cases. So I went to the Verizon store across the street. Bought a case and a Verizon Ultra Screen Protector, a glass screen protector, which was installed at the store. This was a screen protector which was designed for the S8, with the curved screen. After installing this screen, I had a horrible time with screen responsiveness. I had to tap the screen numerous times to open something, and more the half the time the keyboard would miss letters I typed, so I'd have to back up or erase and retype over and over. After two days of frustration, I chatted with a Samsung support rep who said the symptoms looked like I had a bad phone, and I needed to return it. I went back to Best Buy, and several of their sales people said that the glass screen was probably the problem. I guess the S7 edge had similar problems with the glass screen protector. I tried to return the screen protector at Verizon, and they said no returns, only exchanges. I was very upset, I returned the case I purchased and exchanged the screen protector for a new one, which is still in the box. I went back to Best Buy, purchased a new case and a Zagg Invisible shield protector, and I had their Geek Squad install the screen protector. I didn't like the first installation which seemed to have a crease in it, and they installed another one which looked better, but bubbly. They said give it 24-48 hours to dry. Well, after about 12 hours the screen had no bubbles and looked perfect. My phone has no more problems with screen responsivity. I am very upset that Verizon will not accept a return on the glass screen protector, which was obviously not working on this phone. I'm out $45 for the screen protector, which is brand new in the box. I highly recommend purchasing and installing the screen protectors at Best Buy--even though they charge $8 for the install, they guarantee their work. I do not recommend glass screen protectors.
It is Ridiculous you spend all that money for a phone and they can't even have a screen protector that works. I shouldn't have to beat on my phone in order to get a letter or a number to work. Very disappointed that Verizon Is selling this product knowing that there's a problem.
the ZAGG Sapphire is the best out there. I have used many others and this is the best. The sensitivity is spot on and sticks very well. Use it with the Oter Box and you are Golden. I dropped mine today at work 7 feet onto concrete and no scratches.
looks like it will be a lot cheaper to repair then the S7

singingot2,
We never want you having to worry about something as simple as a screen protector. A new phone should be exciting and we want the time after you get it to be focused on enjoying it and getting used to it. So we can check options for you I sent you a PM. Please reply when you are able to.

Denjen2001,
We know how important it is to have your device protected. It is alarming to hear you have been having issues with yours. Do you recall which screen protector you had purchased? Also, what exactly is occurring with your screen protector?
ChristineJ_VZW
The Verizon one. Pete at the store just put it on he said it was the Verizon one made for the phone. Went back the next day he put a new one on and same issues. You have to push hard to get the letters and numbers to appear in a text or when you're Google searching something. Also the pull down menu it's very hard to get it to pull down if it even pulls down.
yes, it broke within two weeks and I scratched my face and finger with the small shards of glass. I almost got a piece of glass in my eye.
I got onto a Verizon chat, and they gave me a courtesy credit- they seemed generally concerned about the issue.
It cracked, then got worse by the day. the ee at the store told me they are having some QA issues with the item.
I may have to look into that, I am asking for a credit on the one they sold me. I will use the credit to purchase the Zagg one at the Cerritos California mall.
Samsung Galaxy S8, good. Samsung Galaxy S8 with Verizon's screen protectors, BAD. The curved screen does not work well with the protector. In fact the first time I dropped my S8 the protector popped off the phone. It was when I took the phone back to the store to have the protector reinstalled that I realized that the phone's touch screen worked very well (including near the curves) without the protector. But when my second (and top of the line) protector was put onto the phone, the screen was again dulled to the touch. Trying to enter my security code, type a message, and select hyperlinks on a website are extremely difficult with a screen protector on the S8. The screen protector makes using my new S8 most unpleasant!
I loved my S6 and protector. If fact after 2 years the protector had a crack, but the screen was pristine. And I never once had a problem with the sensitivity of the screen on the S6.
I went back to the Verizon store withing a few days of my purchase, and was told that I could only exchange the screen protector, I could not get a refund. The glass screen protector was the only one they had. I asked about non-glass kinds, and they said they only had glass. They also said they didn't think Zagg had a protector for the S8, or at least not at that time. However, Best Buy had non-glass screen protectors, which was what I bought. I'm out $45 for the Verizon glass screen protector which did not work.
I've been to Verizon 4 times in 2 weeks because the screen protector they sold me (the only one available in store) keeps popping off or getting the air bubble making the screen nearly unusable. Each person who replaced it told me it was the fault of the person who applied it, and assured me they knew how. Today, the manager simply tossed it in the garbage and refunded my money. Offered me no solution. When I asked her to order the Zagg Sapphire per the suggestion in this string, she said they weren't in stock and sent me on my way. Never more frustrated with Verizon than I am right now!
I am having the same issue now with 2 different Verizon branded ones perfectly installed it's making an otherwise great phone terrible and I hate that I'm going to have to return it and pay the restocking fee lucky for me I haven't shipped off my old phone yet so I have something to still use.
singingot2, I truly apologize for the experience had in the store. You've come to the right place for help. Please check your inbox as I have sent a message. I look forward to working with you soon.

I can't find a message from you in my inbox, La'Sinda
Is this La'Sinda from Verizon wireless support? I don't see a message from you in my inbox.
@ Verizon customer support - I notice you respond when people threaten to return the s8. Please respond to me with advice as I'm still stuck without a resolution (despite 5 visits to the Verizon store + 1 call to Verizon support). I didn't know what else to do.
The S8 is a good phone, but I just do not understand why the stores don't "own it"- that is they know the screen protector is bad and just give people the credit.
singingot2- we want to come to a resolution regarding your screen protector. I have sent you another Private Message. Please check your Inbox so that we can proceed. I look forward to working with you.

I am still waiting for a response also. I still have the [Removed] screenprotector.
Two responses from Verizon via this board never went any where--a personal message to me asking for more info, then nothing when I replied. I finally called the Verizon wireless customer support line, and they gave me my money back for the Verizon screen protector.
My screen protector on samsung s8, zagg, keeps popping off, returned to verizon and replaced twice, but screen protector popped off AGAIN!! Its like the curve in the phone doesnt hold the screen protector
I cannot leave the house without screen protector, not sure what to do!!!
I apologize for the continued trouble with your screen protector, Denjen2001. I sent you a Private Message here in the forum. Please access https://community.verizonwireless.com/inbox to continue towards a resolution.
Thank you

Listen if you are having issues with your screen protector then go to:InvisibleShield Sapphire Defense Curve for the Samsung Galaxy S8 | Samsung Galaxy S8 | InvisibleShield
THIS IS NOT THE REGULAR ZAGG SCREEN PROTECTOR. IN FACT VERIZON DOES NOT CARRY IT YET... THIS IS THE SAPPHIRE. IT WORKS. I HAVE PUT IT THROUGH ALL KINDS OF TESTS. NO [Removed]. UNLIKE THE OTHER ONES THIS ONE HAS STICKING STUFF OVER THE ENTIRE SCREEN AND IT DOES NOT LOOSE AND SENSITIVITY.

Is the screen protector the Saphire Curve
I have had my Note 8 phone for, ironically, 8 days now since I pre-ordered. I wish I would have seen this blog before purchasing the ZAGG curved tempered glass screen protector. I returned the first ZAGG protector for sensitivity issues to the Verizon store where is was purchased after 5 days. The replacement seemed to function better, but after 2 days it fell off the phone and chipped when it hit the ground. I live in East TX and it is humid here. Wonder if that had anything to do with the adhesive strips failing since there is an air gap and only attached at top edges. Verizon employee installed screen both times. Verizon will not return second failed screen as they say, "you damaged it." Contacting ZAGG for warranty. I am not impressed at all.
Yea dropped my phone and the screen protector popped right off! In the rain, of course.
My daughter and I both have a Galaxy S8. We bought the curved screen protector from Verizon. It was $50 each. It is a very pricey screen protector. They installed it. Ever since, we have had problems with sensitivity. We have had problems with the edges not registering touch. We end up with a lot of misspelling and what looks like mis-typing due to the lack of sensitivity. And usually when we pushed on the screen, we hear a noise that sounds like the screen protector was not flush with the phone screen. I dropped my phone once and the screen protector flew off. we reapplied it. Last night I dropped my phone and the screen protector came off and broke. I am very disappointed with the screen protector that Verizon sold us. I bought the 2 screen protectors from Verizon because I felt they were the best option out there to protect the screen on our new Galaxy S8. I could have bought a cheaper screen protector but I went with these. I love the phone but I hate the screen protectors.
tuif,
I'm so sorry to learn about what happened with your screen protectors. It's vital to have additional protection on your S8 however, we don't want it to cause any further issues. I will be happy to help. May I ask, have you tried to take the screen protectors you purchased to the original point of sale? When did you purchase the screen protectors? We do offer a 14-day worry free guarantee for devices and accessories you purchase from us.

We purchased an Invisible Shield Glass Curve for Samsung Galaxy Note8 at the time we purchased the phone from Verizon. The Verizon salesperson installed the screen protector for us. He installed it crooked allowing the edge to not fit tightly against the curve and it cracked. He DID NOT use the guide to install it. I figured this was their fault and made them replace it last Monday. The new one fell off Wednesday night, hit the pavement and broke. The first screen protector scratched the phone's screen. We did not see this when the second screen protector was put on, as it was behind the counter and the salesperson removed and replaced it. I went to Verizon and Josh, the acting manager, said the Zagg is a piece of junk and we're not the first ones to have this problem, they've had problem after problem, and that have refunded dozens of them. He said most of the salespeople do not use the guide to install it. He suggested contacting Zagg who offered to replace the screen protector and give me a $10 gift card. They would not respond to our wanting the screen replaced. Spend $1000 on a phone only to have the screen scratched by lazy sales people and defective products.
I have the same problem. My n never comes out. Plus my glass keeps popping off. It won't stay because of the curve. I have stepped on one already and just broke the 2nd one. What a lousy product.
I agree!!!! Zagg screen protectors are junk and verizon should be ashamed to sell such junk to their customers, especially when they charge $50 for such garbage. I have been with Verizon for longer than I can remember. I've already rid my home and business from every verizon service I had with the exception of mobile phones. Just like the quality of the other verizon services, I've parted ways with, I'm noticing the quality of mobile service sinking fast. It probably will not be long before I need to move on to a different mobile provider. It's really a shame companies can't provide a quality product or service for a reasonable price instead of being underhanded and shady attempting to grab as much profit as possible in as little time as possible with no consideration of what they may be doing to others. I suppose the new golden rule is do unto others before they do unto you. Oh also, this is not just about the screen protector. I believe the screen protector is also representative of the quality of service that is in decline.
