the look of emails.....

Is there a way to change the appearance of the list of email, For example, instead of having the black background with the white letters can this be customized?

To clarify, the individual emails have a white background and black letters, but I am referring to the list showing all of the emails.

You can not customize the stock interface but there are other applications on the market that I believe allows this option but you will be using a 3rd party app to read and view emails.
