Droid frg22d update stops syncing with exchange 2010

We have exchange 2010 SP1 running. When some of the droid users received the 2.2 software build FRG22D it stops syncing with exchange. I have build FRG01B and it works fine, I hope they don't push FRG22D to my phone. HAs anyone else had this issue? Has Verizon recognized this issue. It is going to be major as more phones upgrade and run on Exchange 2010 SP1.

Same problem here, too.

The upgrade to 2.2 arrived the other morning and wa-la, exchange email app prematurely aborts. I sent in the failure notice from the phone and it may have vanished into a black hole. :smileyhappy:

This is nothing more than a software issue in some of the phones. A hard reset will clear this up should it happen to you. Hope this helps.

I did a hard reset and that didn't fix my issue so i wouldn't suggest doing a hard reset.

My environment:

Exchange 2010 SP1

Droid with FRG22D

I haven't been able to pinpoint the issue but it has to do with the request and response with provisioning between the devices and exchange. Nothing has changed but updating the phone to the latest patch.

I receive the following error:

Will a hard reset delete all apps and any saved data?

The hard reset did nothing for me as well except erase all my saved app data. Is anyone at VErizon getting this addressed? This is a major disruption to a device that is sold to support Exchange Active Sync!

I just got off the phone with Motorola level2 support and they are aware of the issue and working on a fix. They recommend installing Touchdown by Nitro as a temporary resolution and they should have the fix out before you need to purchase the app. Verizon should be more in touch with these kinds of issues. Good luck.

Droid isn't synching with Exchange 2003 either, even after having my phone rolled back to OS ver. 2.1. My company is working with VZ tier II to resolve but I'm not seeing any improvement. I've tried to open a ticket with VZ tech support but once I mention the corporate ticket, they want the tkt# before they'll proceed and I just can't get my hands on it.

Sadly that hasn't worked for us at all. We are on SP1 if that matters.

Has not worked for us either. We downgraded a Droid back to 2.1 and found that that solved the problem but would hate to downgrade them all.

I hear from my IT department that if you remove all settings in the phones email settings that it should work again.

Our IT also said at first they had bad certificates.

I am currently having the same issue fith FRG22D and Exchange 2010. Called VZW and Moto on this and they all say use touchdown or tough ****. I have tried a facotry reset, Activation, Certs on the phone, The suggested fix from moto: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/39440/p/30%2C6720%2C7155 I have been working with my Admin's on this and it has come down to two fixes:

1) downgrade to FRg10B (first fryo release)

2) waste 20$ on touchdown until this is fixed and suported natively.

Now you would think that VZW and Moto would be working on this as the majority of enterprises upgrading their exchange servers to 2010 as that is all you can purchase from Microsoft at this current time.

How much longer will we have to wait for this to get fixed??? I hope not as long as the 3 months it took to get Fryo.

ha ironically, Motorola was giving free touchdown licenses to users having issues with connecting to Exchange with the default mail app on the Droid X.

If they would only do that for users having this issue with Exchange 2010/2003 and not syncing until they fix this known issue................

So I just got off the Phone with MOTO and they have reasured me that another OTA update is comming within the next 30 days that should address this issue!!. well for now its baby it along w/ touchdown and hopefuly this comes out sooner than later.

Recreating the policy has not worked for us either. No one on FRG22D cannot connect to our exchange 2010 Sp1. Does Verizon even look at this? Do they have anything better than reseting the phone? Resetting the Policy?

No because it is not an issue (sarcasm)... but honestly it is usually user error when it comes to this issue...

Most people can't sync because they refuse to enter a pin number for remote wipe

Where would you put this pin? Exchange deploys this pin w/o any user interaction and Fryo has no clue WTF to do with it. Thus why it is causing major major issues with this FRG22D build and Exchange security. So if you have any genous ideas or know how to get it working w/o a third party app Im sure there are a few hundred thousand ppl whom would love to know this.

Looks like a problem has been recoginized by Google's android email team; and a software fix is part of 2.2.1

Could someone from VZW please post and indicate (1) how soon Android 2.2.1 will be pushed out over the air, and (2) if a system update isn't expected within a few weeks, whether a temporary fix or workaround will be made available sooner to address the Exchange 2010 ActiveSync problem? Thousands of your customers have suffered without fully functional phones for the last month -- reimbursing us for the cost of Touchdown software does NOT replace the loss of the native application.

My company just moved to 2010 and now we have this problem as well, Motorola forums are littered with the same issue what does it take to get an update?

Has anyone tried to take their phones back to Verizon in an attempt to get a phone that runs 2.1 and can still get mail? Upper management on my end is fuming that they can't get Exchange mail on their Droid phones for 6 weeks and are getting desperate. We have them set up to use pop3 to get their mail, but quite frankly, it's a mess.

I'd run the phones down to our local dealer myself, but don't want to waste my time if they won't offer any cooperation.

I tried to exchange my phone for one that had the 2.1 update and was told that if it had the 2.1 as soon as the phone is set up, it would automatically update to 2.2. What a joke. Thanks Verizon. I will be switching to Samsung soon. They are not pushing the 2.2 and I need my mail/contacts/calendar. This was the whole reason I stayed with Verizon and got the phone last November.

That's kind of where we are heading. We have a few folks here who have Samsung Captivates and things seem to be going real well with no problem with Exchange 2010. I think our problem would be solved if we just all got Vibrants.

Yes Exchange 2010 with SP1.

I found that if you put a policy back and set it as default, it will break the frg22d phones, so you need to add policies and have no defaults, but apply the policies only to the phones that require it.

Of course, this by no means should let Verizon off the hook. This is only a workaround, and if you need to enforce policies, you will need to get the updated Froyo with Google's fix in it....

Clearly the ball is in the court of Verizon to deal with the issue and correct it with the update.

That worked for us, too (Droid with Exchange 2010 SP1). So far it's been working without a hitch for four days with no adverse effects on other ActiveSync users with non-Android phones. Many thanks to those of you on this forum since we got no help whatsoever from VZW tech support.

Rumor is that they were going to release a patch today to fix this issue. I am not holding my breath. Verizon wireless is useless. This issue has been going on for months. I am doing the activesyc fix now.

Just a quick question: If I remove the activesync policy how will affect other devices that are working? We have Iphones, Droids, 1,2,X Blackberrys.
