How to Store pics & vids on memory card by default

My S8 will be arriving tomorrow as well as a 64gb SD card. Once I figure out how to transfer my contacts and messages <oh what fun ;-)> I'd like to have the phone automagically save whatever it can to the SD card rather than internal memory. Definitely my pics and vids but can anything else be moved to the SD card?

I've downloaded the user manual but it doesn't seem to address this question.

In the camera settings, you can chose to store your pics on the card. You can also store apps on the card. I use an app called AppMgrIII to identify and move apps to the card. Not all apps can go on the card.

There are a number of SMS Backup applications available in the Play Store. You can use one them to backup your messages and call logs from the old phone and transfer them to the new phone.

Contacts should all be stored on your Google account so they will automatically sync your new phone when you sign into the same Google account.

I would avoid storing any applications on the SD card unless you can format it as adaptable memory which is the preferred method according to Google.

Ann154, your community presence is certainly appreciated. Your information is always supportive and accurate. I do agree with you here, Contacts being stored on a Google account is the best option. The will ensure that they are imported when you sign into a new device.
