usb connection, what is that driver installer for?

If I set the usb connection to USB Mass Storage it creates 2 new drives on my Win/7 computer. H is the SD card. But what is the G: drive? It has 3 different motorola .msi installers, a setup.exe, an inf & an ini file. Has anybody ever run that install? It looks like it would install drivers.

If I switch the usb connection to PC Mode, then the drive with the SD Card goes away.

The G drive is the phone itself. It allows you to save to the phone rather than everything to the SD card. Hope this helps.

The other drive (the one that is not your SD card) is some funky locked-down read-only partition on the phone. On my Vista 64 machine, the drive is called "CD Drive (X :smileyhappy: Motorola" with 4.7.1 drivers (for Windows 7, according to an earlier VZ support call).

If you run those drivers, every time you connect the phone to your PC via USB, depending on your autorun settings, the bloody Verizon website opens, pushing their various (for purchase) additional software options. There are no instructions for how to disable it, that I can find. The whole reason for the driver appears to be to spring advertising, which is just a real pisser. If anyone has a good way to permanently disable that crap-ware, short of rooting the phone, I would love to hear it.

Right click on the moto connect icon and change to do nothing.

I removed the moto connect software, I didn't need it.
