Asurion and Samsung 8+ problems

I have had my SG8+ for 9 months and I have insurance on my phone. I had to call Asurion since I have a small crack on the phone in the right upper corner and it is just a service crack. I talked with a person and he said that my claim is accepted and there is a slight problem that there is a backorder on my phone. I can pay $199 to replace my phone. I told him I can't afford that. Why should I pay that when I have insurance on my phone? Now I am wondering if they were going to just replace my phone why can't I just pay $30 at a brick and mortar store if they were just going to send me a replacement?

It’s called a deductible. All insurance except life insurance has a deductible.

Whats this $30 you wrote of? Verizon is not going to replace your phone for any amount.

It might be cheaper to fix the screen and pay out of pocket.

I was told that is how much it would cost to fix a small crack in the corner of my phone.

I dont know of any Verizon that fixes phones. I know ATT has a deal with Asurion for $29 screen repair on selected phones. The newest models and curved screen are not included. It’s worth checking. Good luck

I know this thread is over a year old, but I'm hoping someone sees this and is able to help me. I have had the same problem with Asurion not wanting to replace the screen on my daughter's SG S8+. We have had the screen on my husband's SG Note8 replaced twice, the screen on my SG Note8 replaced once, and the screen on my daughter's old SG S7 edge replaced once. Each time this was done through Asurion for a $29 cracked screen deductible. My daughter now has a SG S8+ in blue with a cracked screen. I have tried to file a claim to have the screen replaced twice - once online and then I called and spoke to an Asurion agent. Each time I was only offered to have the device replaced for the $199 deductible. When I called the repair shop that replaced all of our other screens, the manager told me they always have the parts to replace the screen on the blue SG S8+ in stock. No one can give me a reason why I'm not allowed to just change the screen. I don't see why the screen can't be replaced for the $29 deductible if the parts are really available. I shouldn't have to pay $199 for a whole phone replacement when it's just the screen that needs to be replaced!

maybe because you alreay had 4 screens replaced? maybe there is alimit. Also how do you break 4 screen in such a short time? I've owned smartphone for almost 9 years and have never broke a screen. maybe invest in some good cases and thsi wouldn't be a recuring issue

This was over a period of years. And a claim can be filed on each phone a couple or so times a year. It has nothing to do with that. If that was the reason Asurion would have told me. And we all have OtterBoxes on our phones! We all work in very rough conditions - we don't have indoor desk jobs. Tkank you for your input, but I'm looking for a definite answer, not just a guess.
