Can't connect to Wifi afer 2.2 update

I just applied the 2.2 OTA update, and since then I can't connect to my local wifi hotspot. It's secured with WPA2 PSK and the password or network setup hasn't changed. The wireless state seems to cycle indefinitely through scanning, connecting and disconnected. I've tried forgetting the network and reentering the password, and I've even cleared the credential storage and rebooting the phone but to no avail.

Has anybody else experienced this (it seems the rollout isn't going super smoothly)? Any advice to offer?

I have no advice for you but mine is connecting fine to the two spots I use frequently for what its worth. Verizon would probably advise you to restore your phone to factory which would be a hassle to build your apps again. They are kept with your google account I am told so they are not lost but they would all have to installed again. Have you tried removing the battery? Just one idea. Wish I could help more.

Same here... except my browser is not working, but the apps I have to connect to the net work just fine! just got back from verizon, the guy there spent almost 2 hours on the phone with 4 different people to try and figure it out. All they could say is "some one will call you with in the next few days" What a load of crap!! AT&T is starting to look real good to me about now!

Still waiting for the "call" from verizon..... doubt that it will ever happen! Was only joking about AT&T, had them for a while but they are worse then verizon. It's pretty bad when they send out a mandatory update and arent willing to help out all of their customers who are having issues, some of us spend hundred of dollars per month! I've been working in retail for almost 30 years and I know how companies are supposed to treat thier customers..... Verizon needs to step up and help!!!!

Does anyone know what's going on?

Ever since the 2.2 update WiFi has been messed up.

I've tried two different networks that I'm running at home with 2 different routers. I know that it's not a problem with the router. I've tried using WEP, and can only use WiFi when I'm using Maps. At other times, I'm crawling with 3G.

When I tried using WPA/mixmode I would connect, but I couldn't use any application in either 3G or WiFi.

Mine works fine with connected to an n router. Doesn't work at all when connected to a b/g router.

You can't let your emotions make your decisions for you. I've been with AT&T before and all of these services have some kind of problem. It has to do with software and the hardware. The techs try to get them right, but sometimes it doesn't work. I can understand your frustration. It doesn't matter what company you go with. All I can say is AT&T has more issues and costs more. Just try and get a solution from either a supervisor tech or on one of these blogs.

I have experienced the same problem during the last week, and was glad to know someone else was having the same problem.

I have the solution! I went to the Summary Screen for my modem (ATT), then to EDIT Wireless Settings. On the MAC address filter, I added the MAC address of my DROiD to the approved devices list. The MAC address is listed on the DROID by going to SETTINGS/WIFI/SETTINGS/MAC ADDRESS. I also ENABLED BROADCAST.

Everything works fine now! :smileyhappy:

BTW, AM ON WPA 2/PSK

i also tried remove/reset battery but that was no help. Battery reset does work on other issues tho.

If you use your DROID at a WIFI HOTSPOT, you are looking for trouble (security). Remember, there is no security at a hotspot, , and anyone can attach to and use your session, and steal your data. WIFI signal strength at WIFI hOT SPOTS are notoriously weak, and 3G is probably faster. I have experienced download speeds slower than diialup at many WIFI Hotspots on my laptop. I used to carry my laptop everywhere, but don't need it anymore as the DROID is faster. .

manmart....My droid will not connect to my home network either, although it did before the update! I have At&t U-verse with a 2Wire Gateway router. I tried forgeting the network like Verizen told me to and that doesn't work and I tried yanking the batteryu and that didn't work. Where do I find this summary screen for the modem? I have windows XP on my home pc that my router is connected to.

Verizon needs to come out with a fix for this because nothing seems to be working.

I just did a factory restore to my wireless router, changed the name of my SSID, set it up to n, g, and b, and set it for channel 6. It seems to be working for now.

Same here.

Droid Froyo 2.2 and Flash update broke hidden SSID WiFi with WPA2.

VZW support just confirmed they are aware of the problem (and others like slow hom screen icon refresh) and a maintenance release is supposedly due from Google soon.

I don't think it has to do with hidden networks because mine broadcasts and still can't connect to the WPA2, but it's good to hear they are working on the fix.

This is one thing about UPDATES that I don't understand. While they were trying to better our EXPERIENCE at VZW, they took a perfectly good working software setup for wifi and changed it. Why fix it if it AINT broke. Just read all the headaches this is causing. I think the real problem here is that while the DROID is a great phone, it just isn't able to handle all the changes that the 1GHz and newer phones can. I think they are trying to make too many changes at once. VZW, 2.1 worked great, if all you did was make a 2.2 update to add flash, I would have been a happy camper with just that. Although, I have not had any issues with the update, clearly you can read here that there are many issues. Thanks VZW once again for being so pro-active to produce something worse than the great software we already had.

Eddie, I have to disagree with you on this one. The real party to blame here is Google. Because of the nature of how Google set up Android there are so many variations of their OS floating around it makes it difficult for Verizon and the phone manufacturers to update their phones. They have to keep updating their modifications on top of what Google does. This is why the updates have to roll out in waves by phone which is also why it will take so long for a fix because Google has to fix their stuff, and Motorola has to make sure it still works with their modifications and then VZW still has to test to make sure it works with the network.
