Galaxy S7 1x data

I live in a small town and have had a Galaxy S4 for a long time. I was able to get 3g with my old phone. Last week I bought a Galaxy S7, had it set up at the store in a different town, and now I can only get 1x on extended network. Is there a way to get back to the 3g?
