Ever since I bought the Droid X, I encountered strange problems with my media files. I tried to rename some of my videos, and once I tried to go back and watch them after the renaming process, it turns out the phone completely destroys the file, turning it into all numbers and letters, no longer viewable. The phone also does the same thing to pictures if you try to rename them.
I figured I just wouldn't rename anything as to avoid this problem, but last night it turns out the phone did it automatically, destroying about 600 of my pictures and videos. When it destroys the files it sends them into a folder named LOST.DIR and most of the icons look like blank white sheets of paper.
But wait! There's more...It happens to more than just my phone! The other person on my account also has a Droid X, and his phone also destroys media files after renaming them. He ordered a replacement phone, but once again, the phone still destroys files when you rename them.
So we went into a Verizon Wireless store for help and ended up testing this process on the Droid, Droid X, and Droid 2 display phones in the store. They ALL did the same thing and destroyed the picture we took in the store after we renamed it.
Please leave feedback letting me know what phone you have and if it destroys your media files once you try renaming them. Also, If you have a Droid X or Droid 2 please take a random picture of anything, then go to the picture, rename it, and try viewing it again. I would greatly appreciate feedback
Warning: Do not try renaming a picture or video that you want to keep!!! After contacting Verizon Wireless and Motorola, they have yet to find a way to restore my destroyed files, so please just take a random picture of your lamp or floor, so that you do not lose any memories!
