Navigation bar keeps showing when phone asleep S8

Seems after last update or why I was trying to get preveious settings back the bottom navigation bar keeps coming back on when my phone is asleep. Only shows the back and home buttons when it is alseep, no app manager button. Turn the always on display off but even the thin little bar comes on by itself. How can I get this to stop?

OK so it seems I have lost the auto-hide feature. There is no dot to the left to turn it off and on as some Youtube videos show. No option in settings to auto-hide it at all and when it is asleep it comes back on.
