How Do I Update to 2.2

So to give a little background:

I live in Wisconsin

Not currently in 3G coverage

Have Wifi turned on and connected

When I go to the settings>about phone>system updates, the system updates button is dimmed and it does not do anything when pressed. Any suggestions?

Is it being rolled out in particular sections that I may have missed through all the posts?

Any help would be appreciated.

thats weird, someone else here had the exact same issue with "system update" button not working. I have personally tried on my DX and my original Droid to recreate the issue and i cannot. The button always is available and pressable. In 3g area or not. I get no 3g in my work cafeteria and button is still there.

I tried w/ airplane mode on too.

I sort of wrote off the other post as "user error"...i guess i was mistaken if someone else has the same issue.

maybe Verizon can chime in on the issue.

This may be a system error on your device where you are unable to check for updates. It is a simple fix for this. We can perform a hard reset to reset the phone to factory settings and it will be available for you. The steps for this are listed below:

From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display).

Touch Settings.

Touch Privacy.

Touch Factory Data Reset.

Touch Reset Phone.

If presented, enter the current passcode or draw the unlock pattern.

Touch Erase Everything.

I noticed that if you do not have 3g connectivity, then the System update button is disabled. I also have seen posts of people being able to download over WiFi

Are you able to get on the internet when you have WiFi connected? If you have issues there, then that would be the cause.

Are you able to get to a point of finding 3g coverage close to where you live? If you can get somewhere for 3g coverage, that would be my suggestion , at least to download 2.2
