LG Cosmos Touch default contact dialling

When saving more than one number in a contact, the phone doesn't give you a choice to change which number you want to use as the default.  Does anyone know what I've overlooked?

You CAN set any of the numbers for a contact as the "default" number by going into your contact list, then go to EDIT for a contact that you have multiple numbers for.

Right soft key the OPTIONS while you are in the field as if you were going to edit the phone number that you want for the default (say, the contacts cell number) - one of the options for that number should be to "Set as default" -
