Internet via Bluetooth

My home internet is powered by Dial-up. Dial-up absolutely sucks, which has driven me to research new means of internet access. I purchased a RocketFish bluetooth adapter from BestBuy a week ago, and only recently opened it and installed it.

Having a Droid X with an unlimited Data plan, I paired my computer and my phone, and was able to access the internet using my phone's modem.

I have looked into the pre-installed 3G Mobile Hotspot app that came with the phone, however, it is a plan deal---requires dough.

I am hesitant to use my newly discovered Bluetooth modem route, in fear that I will find a significant bill at the end of the month. Has anyone else done this? Does it incur any charges?

With an Unlimited Plan you should not be charged for that. It's only the HOT SPOT feature you would have to purchase if you went that route - at $20/mo as you found out.

Not sure if that actually is true, I have a bluetooth in my laptop and when I attempted to use the dial option from bluetooth, the website came up to say in order to use this feature "Contact Verizon to add this feature" because from what I understand that uses the same data connection method as the tethering feature. I would watch my bill to verify no charges because I really think you will be charged..... Now I am unsure of this but better safe than surprised...

I agree -- best to keep an eye on the charges just to make sure. Or you could have a huge surprise.
