gmail deletion

I added a gmail account in error on my droid and will not let me remove the acct. without setting it bacl to a factory restore....is this the only solution. I have the correct gmail listed on the droid as well.

Why do you want to delete your Gmail account? If you deleted it you would have to reset all your contacts, won't be able to synch calendars, and a host of other things that you can do with your Gmail account. However, the biggest thing is that you need a Gmail account to make any purchases in the Market. I would suggest that you keep it and just not use it.

You can delete Gmail from your Google Account at any time. If you're sure you won't use Gmail in the future, please follow these steps to delete it:

Sign in to your Gmail account.
Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
Click Accounts in the Settings menu bar.
Click Google Account settings.
Click the Edit link next to 'My products.'
Click Delete Gmail Service and fill in the required fields.

Contacts and other information will be lost when associated account is removed.

On the Device go to:

Settings/ Applications/ Manage Applications/ Filter / Running Applications / Clear data Gmail client.

Then sync the correct Gmail account under Accounts and Sync settings.

For Multiple Accounts

Got to the Gmail Application by clicking the Gmail icon.
Click the Menu button and select Accounts
Click the Account you wish to delete
You will see a list of your Gmail accounts, click the Menu button again, there is only one option, Account Settings.
Scroll down to Manage Accounts
Click on the Account you wish to delete.
Click Remove Account
