Still waiting in Philadelphia.
Still waiting in Jackson, TN.
At least I'm not the only one.
HEY!!!!!!! I think it's starting to load in my Droid in Oregon....no.....wait..............well crap! Nope...still waiting in Oregon.
Still waiting here in Central Ohio however, my wife received the update a few days ago. Hearing all of the problems, I wonder if there is any truth to the delay. She hasn't had any big problems other than battery life (which has always been a problem anyways!)
In Southeast Ohio, Still no offical update through the phone.
I am still waiting and I called verizon and the rep told me that the update is going to come in a pair of updates to fix the first update. Upgrading over 3G will take sometime to download then start the install process. I found a site on here how to update the phone if you have received the message an update is available.
Manual download over a PC with CRC and HASH checks to make sure the updates tcp segements are checked and verified. Then transfer the update to the sd card then over to the root. Hell even have the update as a windows executable or even better Install the update with Linux (ubuntu/redhat/debian) with the Moto Droid teathered to the PC. This is how microsoft updates its phones why not update android on linux or windows.
If indeed this update is only through 3G, The 3G connection better use tcp instead of udp. TCP is connection based and guarantees delevery of packets of data. UDP is connectionless and no guarantee the update is intact to use.
I do know that there is a big increase in performance/quickness between screen and such.
90 percent of verizon users do not have this update due to bricking of the devices and it was launched in Megalopises (pop over 100,000 people).
The update out there that is from google it has file dates back to 5/05/2009 at 4:43PM. Unless verizon is holding back on updates this seems to be a step backward.
Still waiting in Chicago, getting really close to doing a manual update.
South of Chicago, received update this morning, installed around 8:30am, no issues so far. Keeping my fingers crossed. However, my partner decided not to update right away. We came home after our work days and he attempted to update his phone. (Rather I took it and started the update myself) After the update first downloaded it sat at the download screen saying "reboot needed" at the top and the button at the bottom said download. So I tried to download again, same issue. Tried connecting to wifi, download again, same issue. So I pulled the battery, put it back in and restarted the phone. Started the download and it rebooted as expected. Unfortunately, 3/4 of the way through in the installation the wonderful ! triangle appeared. So I called customer service after a 45 minute phone call I was told by Verizon IT dept. that they're still pushing the update out to phones randomly, there were some delays as Motorola found some bugs and halted the release for a short time but they are still pushing the update out. So as of now 1 out of 2 DROID phones updated.
Hey I just got the update about 10min. ago. and everything seems to be working fine so far and it is very very fast. I did uninstall ATK, UPON READING THAT IS NOT NECESSARY TO HAVE WITH THIS UPDATE,and it was never really recommended to have to begin with. I also read where one person, reverted back to the original launcher before updating his phone and afterwards going back to his ADW LAUNCHER. I have no idea if this affects the way the update acts or performs, but I also did this before installing the update and went back to Pro Launcher; and again I've yet to have any problems. It is too early to say this, but I'd like to take the positive route in hopes that everything remains that way.
12:56 am Eastern hour east of Atlanta, Madison, and update has just started!!!!!! Crossing fingers I dont have the others issues. Didnt get a notification, just saw that some were getting it over the last hour and decided to check the settings/phone/check for updates and it started the update!
I've read several posts where it is advisable to uninstall Advance Task Killer....that 2.2 does not need it and that it can cause problems. I have not seen an explanation as to why it should be uninstalled??
By the way, I received the update at 0845 this morning....all appears to be working fine.
Rec'd update this am - it bricked my phone. thanks vzw.
Waytureal - Did this work? My phone bricked with this result as well the "M" screen of death
Still waiting in middle tennessee. maybe it will come someday.
Getting my update now after uninstaling ATK maybe you guys should try it maybe it'll work.
I uninstalled ATK and then checked for updated and it was already downloading, 9pm EST. I have seen similar posts to this one. So I am guessing a lot of people have the update waiting but, ATK keeps killing the download. This could be just a coincidence but, I think it is possible.
Awesome! i'm glad i helped
finally got the update about 4 hours ago...no problems with installation...no flash 10.1 yet though
